I sat at my desk printing a flyer to take around to the different businesses. Hoping that it would catch the eye of someone, anyone needing an apartment, to contact me at.Laurel Hill Apartments.
As I was creating the flyer, a familiar song came to my mind that says: If I can help somebody along the way, then my living is not in vain... The quake happened January 12th, 2010
Immediately, I started thinking as to how could I help. With my residents being on fixed income, monetarily, I would not get much but maybe everyone would be able to help with a clothers drive for the Haiti people. So I sent out a notice to my residents asking for help to get this drive started. They started responding immediately by bringing in bags and boxes of Items, Clothers, shoes, toiletries etc.
It is so satisfying to know that I have a community of residents who really care and will give from their heart.
We collected and packed 18 boxes. Some of the clothers were brand new. Tags still on them. . I was always taught that in giving, you should give something that you want to keep for yourself.
That’s when you know that the one that received it is special and that you’ll be Bless.
The TV Station WTOC heard about our endeavor and wanted to capture us doing missionary work for the people in Haiti.
The 18 boxes for the Haiti victims are being carried over by Jean Laurent who is a native of Haiti.
We will continue to pray for the people in Haiti
