Completed construction of 144 rental units of affordable housing for seniors consisting of 71 units at Shady Groves Apartments in Charleston, South Carolina and another 71 units at Laurel Hill Apartments in Port Royal, South Carolina.
Started construction on 144 rental units of affordable housing for families in the City of Charleston consisting of two 72-unit complexes: Seven Farms Apartments and the Shires Apartments.
Awarded approximately $4 million in tax credits to begin construction on 72 rental units of affordable housing at Ivy Ridge Apartments for families in North Charleston.
Began construction on 12 units of single-family homes for low to moderate-income families at Peekson’s Court.
Completed two single-family homes for low to moderate-income families on the Charleston peninsula.
Committed $50,000 to help start the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund along with James Doran Company, which also committed $50,000. Part of this money may be used to develop affordable housing in the areas impacted by the storm and part has been used to enable those displaced to find safe, secure housing.
Received 892 referrals from over 100 social service agencies throughout the Tri-county area and provided aid to 645 low-income households, representing over 1400 individuals. Total amount of rental and utility assistance was $129,579.
Received over $50,000 in grants from sources such as Charleston County, City of Charleston, City of North Charleston and various funds of the Coastal Community Foundation.
Paid security deposits, rent for the first month and conducted background checks for 23 Hurricane Katrina evacuee families in the Charleston area totaling over $11,000.
Donated $10,000 from the Humanities Foundation Katrina Relief Fund to South Carolina Cares to help Hurricane Katrina evacuees throughout South Carolina.
Relocated 56 residents of Calhoun Homes displaced by pending development using special funds from the developer of the I’ON Group and the City of North Charleston. Total amount of assistance was $31,000.
Serve as a general member of the Mayor’s Council on Homelessness and Affordable Housing and on their marketing committee, and serve as a general member of Lowcountry Continuum of Care.
Participate in Our Lady of Mercy’s interagency meetings to address needs of residents of Johns Island.
Provide case management for tenants living in units funded through the Lowcountry Continuum of Care and for hurricane evacuees housed at Shady Grove Apartments.
Serve on board of directors of the Lowcountry Continuum of Care and Lowcountry Housing Trust.
