An Advocate For Affordable Housing
Humanities Foundation works to increase community understanding of the challenges facing the homeless and ways to aid those in need of safe, decent and affordable housing. A member of the Foundation serves on the Affordable Housing Committee for the Homelessness Task Force; this organization coordinates efforts to provide affordable housing in the City ofCharleston.
Additionally, Tracy Doran, President of Humanities Foundation, is President –Elect of the Affordable Housing Coalition of SC and the Chairperson for the Public Policy Committee of that organization. The Humanities Foundation is also a member of the NC Affordable Housing Coalition and a member of the National Housing and Rehabilitation Association.
We also provide our housing residents with educational opportunities, such as financial counseling, health screenings and other basic life and job skills development. By offering these services, Humanities Foundation helps residents avoid the circumstances that lead to homelessness.
